2005 AIA Housing Award for innovative housing design in the United States one of eight awards given for innovative housing design in the United States. 

2004 AIA Seattle Honor Award for outstanding building design one of three awards given for outstanding building design from150 entries.  

1999 Outstanding Teaching Faculty in Architecture Award 

1997 First Place International Design Competition Winner, IDEC for Delta Gamma Sorority Project. Collaboration with Deborah Brooks, interior design consultant.  Highest award given to design educators by this association for professional work.

1996 National AIA Education Honor Award for development of architecture course entitled:  Site and Landscape Design.  The American Institute of Architects’ “most prestigious award to educators for teaching excellence.”  1 of 4 given nationally.

1996 National ACSA Design Studio Award for directorship of the regional research project entitled:  Eastern Washington:  Conditions and Aberrations.  1 of 4 given in North America (112 schools of architecture are represented by ACSA).

1995 First Prize Honor Award, Inland Northwest Home Award Competition

1993 Certificate of Appreciation, national Society of American Architects for directorship of community research project entitled:  Pullman: A Book of Secrets.  Award recognizes the “highest achievement in architectural design” produced in a school of architecture.  1 of 4 awards given in North America.

1991 Outstanding Educator Award, WSU

1989 ASLA Regional Design Award for Big Finn Hill Park from Washington Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects 1989.

1984 Eschweiler Prize for design excellence at Cornell University 

1983 Cornell Marshall Award for highest academic standing in Architecture
