Blending utilitarian sensibilities from nearby farm structures and decorative motifs from the neighboring suburban houses (the house is located on the edge of Pullman) this subrural house works to reconcile the romantic and the rational to produce a lean, at times playfully decorative, but ultimately highly functional place to live.

Main house is a simple 30' x 20' x 30' box with a 3 sided veranda. All roofs drain into a rain pool.

Split onto two parts the main house and garage/ apartment create a courtyard shared by both. Attic projection frames views of Kamiak Butte. Tuscan columns frame views to the Palouse Hills (actually reminiscent of the Tuscany).
